Library Instruction Program

Introduction

  • The library's commitment to effectively meeting education and research needs at Badya University, the Library Instruction Program provides sessions and workshops, mainly but not limited focus on, Information Literacy and Academic Integrity, as well as providing consultation with a Librarian to support academic research requirements.

    • Information literacy and Academic Integrity sessions are the necessary resources needed to empower Badya University students with essential research skills by equipping them with the abilities to recognize information needs, effectively evaluate, and utilize needed information as well as assess the quality and reliability of information resources post-retrieval in addition to keeping Academic Integrity Ethics, Avoiding plagiarism and practices of Citation styles and using Referencing tools.

    Definitions in Library Literature:

    Information Literacy 

    “A set of abilities requiring individuals to recognize when information is needed and have the ability to locate, evaluate, and use effectively the needed information.” (Information Literacy – Welcome to ALA’s Literacy Clearinghouse, n.d.) 

    Academic Integrity 

    “Acting in a way that is honest, fair, respectful, and responsible in your studies and academic work.     Overview Objectives

    • Develop soft skills for research needs: Such as Time management, Teamwork, problem-solving, Lifelong learning, Critical thinking, Self-learning, Scientific thinking, Logical thinking, and Systematic thinking.

    • Information Literacy: Equip students with the skills of identifying information needs, evaluating and utilizing information effectively, and assessing the quality and reliability of resources.

    • Academic Integrity: Promote ethical research practices, avoid plagiarism, and master citation styles and referencing tools.

    • Research Data Management Literacy: Provide guidance on managing research data efficiently, and master research management skills.

    • Artificial Intelligence: Introduce students to the fundamentals and applications of AI in academic research.

    Important Instructions

    • The school must schedule a meeting with the library at least two weeks before each session, to ensure the availability of: (Librarian - Location - Date and time).

    • The school provides the library with (curricula, assignments, and research papers) that will be requested from students during the academic year, so that the library can cover all the essential points in the sessions.

    • The faculty member and teaching assistant can attend the sessions.

    • The faculty member and teaching assistant can get a consultation in any inquiry related to their academic needs by requesting a consultation with the librarian.

    • The library provides more sessions according to academic needs and students’ suggestions throughout the academic year.
