Introduction

Badya University Library is dedicated to enhancing learning and academic development, as well as providing instruction program sessions that meet the academic and educational requirements of each school.

This webpage presents an overview of the library instruction program, including available sessions, objectives, and important instructions.

Applied science is designed for students and faculty members in the schools of computer science, business, fine arts, and engineering. To provide instructional content specifically to the school's nature.

For individual needs, the library provides consultation sessions with a librarian to personalize the content with continuous support and guidance for the research process.

Overview Objectives

  • Optimize Research Skills: Develop the student's ability to understand the formula and process of the research, starting with the research documentation, research methodology, and evidence-based medicine (EBM).

  • Enhance Soft Skills: Focus on the required skills for research, such as critical thinking, problem-solving, time management, and organization skills.

  • Strengthen AI Literacy skills: Enable students to use AI effectively and ethically by considering all the abilities and levels.

  • Advance Information Literacy skills: Develop advanced information literacy skills in evaluating information, searching in databases, using search techniques, and collecting trusted resources.

Important Instructions

  • The school must schedule a meeting with the library at least two weeks before each session, to ensure the availability of: (librarian - location - date and time).

  • The school provides the library with with curriculum, assignments, and research papers that will be requested from students during the academic year, as well as the library covering all the essential requirements in the sessions.

  • The faculty member and teaching assistant can attend the sessions.

  • The faculty member and teaching assistant can get a consultation in any inquiry related to their academic needs by requesting consultation with the librarian.

  • The library provides more sessions according to academic needs and students’ suggestions throughout the academic year.

This session presents the fundamental concepts of information literacy, evaluation, and eligibility of information and resources. The practical part focuses on searching databases using Boolean operators and search filtrations to determine the relevance and credibility of information sources.
This session introduces the principles of academic project integrity and the project licenses by focusing on types of plagiarism, providing guidance on how to avoid it, and considering ethics by focusing on student responsibilities in maintaining academic standards.
This session provides the fundamentals of using generative AI, such as prompt techniques, personalizing the AI tools, implementing tools in an academic environment, determining the right tool, and using checklist criteria to evaluate AI generative output to manage AI challenges by considering the ethical use.
This session includes the different types of research data and the methods used to collect it. and key considerations for selecting appropriate methods based on research objectives and study cases.
